Job summary:

DTx is looking for a Ph.D. in Materials, Polymer or Process Engineering or similar areas, such as Electronics, Biomedical, or Physics Engineering, to join the research team of the project “LEIMSA – Lightweight Electronics by Injection Molding in Seamless Architecture”, POCI-01-0247-FEDER-048378, which has a total investment of € 4,898,005.06, financed by Programa Operacional Competitividade e Internacionalização, supported by FEDER, under the terms of the notice for submission of applications no. 03/SI/2020. The project aims to develop disruptive components for the automotive interior of the future, integrating the IMD (In-Mold Decoration), IML (In-Mold Labeling), and IME (In-Mold Electronics) technologies to achieve intelligent and tactile 3D surfaces, with an attractive design and immersive HMI for a truly user-centered experience. The consortium for this project is led by Simoldes Plásticos, with Celoplás, Bosch, CEiiA, Universidade do Minho and DTx CoLAB as partners.

 

Applicant’s profile:

DTx is looking for a Ph.D. in Materials, Polymer or Process Engineering or similar areas to join the research team of the project “LEIMSA” project. Profiles with training in Electronics, Biomedical, or Physics Engineering are also applicable. Proven previous experience in the areas of in-mold, printed, and flexible electronics, both in terms of the development of smart and functional materials and in the integration processes of these technologies (screen printing, inkjet printing, thermoforming, and polymer injection) is a preferential factor.

 

Responsibilities:

The selected profile will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring of the state of the art and technological surveillance, as well as in the definition of functionalities, technologies, and material specifications;
  • Study and development of decorated and functionalized substrates with conductive inks, as well as their properties;
  • Integration of functionalities and decoration in prototypes by IMD/IML+IME;
  • Characterization, testing, and validation of materials, processes, and technologies;
  • Writing of scientific papers in the field of printed electronics, materials, and production processes.
